A film that has polarised the critics ( “[an] extraordinary piece of outsider art ” / “laughably bad” ) Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin is a film that inspires frustration, intrigue and wonderment.

We follow a nameless alien who takes on the form of Scarlett Johansson in a black wig, bright red lipstick and fake fur coat . She walks out into the world (like cinematic aliens of yore from David Bowie in The Man Who Fell to Earth to E.T. to Jeff Bridges in Starman) a fish out of water, observing human beings, not understanding empathy, being entranced by a television and vomiting up cake.  Disturbingly, though, her main objective is to lure unsuspecting men back to her house.
